Scott McBain is one of Adelaide’s most versatile media personalities.  

 

A 27 year veteran of Radio and Television Scott joined Channel 9 Adelaide in 1983 as Station Announcer and Presenter after starting his media career on air at radio station 5SE Mt Gambier in 1980.                                    

 

Scott McBain is known as “The Voice of South Australia”, having one of the states, and indeed the nations most recognisable and sort after voices.  

 

His radio career in Adelaide spanned 25 years and saw him host many top rating prime time shows including the number one rating breakfast show on the Austereo Networks SAFM station and more recently The New Zoo on TripleM.

 

During his 22 years at Channel Nine Scott hosted a variety of local programmes, network and local sporting events including Athletics,  Cricket, Tennis, Football, Rugby League, Formula One as well as many documentaries, Adelaide Today and for many years was the face of SA Lotto.

 

Scott is also one of South Australia's leading comperes and master of ceremonies, having compared some of South Australia's biggest functions for Government Departments, Tasting Australia, Barossa Under the Stars with Rod Stewart, Sir Cliff Richard and John Farnham. The Clipsal 500, IMG World, SA Great, The Australian Grand Prix in both Adelaide and Melbourne, The Adelaide Crows Football Club, Port Power, The Adelaide 36’ers, The Adelaide United Football Club (NSL Soccer) Clipsal Industries, Australian Major Events, National and International conferences, RFDS, Heathgate Resources ( Opening of the Beverly Uranium Mine ), The Australian Rugby Union, Tourism SA and The Great Southern Muster at Lucindale in South Australia where in front of over 7000 people, he joined his good friend Australian singer songwriter James Blundell onstage to sing some crowd favourites.   

 

Scott is also in demand interstate for many corporate functions.

 

Scott McBain is highly regarded for his charity and community work. The Variety Club, for over twenty one years has been an important part of Scott’s life and he has been actively involved with The SA Variety Bash for the last fifteen years, last year he was honoured by being made an official Ambassador for Variety SA . Scott’s dedication to Variety and other important charity organisations including Canteen, The Make A Wish Foundation and Childhood Cancer just to name a few, is unparalleled.

Scott McBain is originally a country boy from Naracoorte in the South East of South Australia.  Growing up, being educated and starting his working life in  Naracoorte, instilled a strong country ethic in Scott, his love of the ‘bush’ has seen him maintain lifelong friendships with mate’s he considers lucky to have stayed on the land.
