Big Al’s boisterous, addictive persona has seen him arguably become Adelaide’s most popular and adored comedian. Crowds and comedians love to be around him and his booming, unforgettable laugh. Quick, energizing and charming with rapid-fire delivery, Big Al is a character that many people meet, but certainly no one ever forgets.
Big Al has become a firm favourite among audiences in the Adelaide comedy scene, appearing as a regular at all comedy rooms around town. His success and efforts were rewarded in 2005 with an induction to the “Adelaide Comedy Hall Of Fame”.
Over the last 6 years, Big Al has been hosting and performing at numerous corporate, social and club events, with one of the highlights being a performance at Her Majesty’s Theatre as the opening act for American Comedian “Pauly Shore”.
Big Al’s material has been sought after by the Austereo Network and can be heard around the nation as a part of “Home Grown Humor”. Big Al also appeared on a DVD for FHM, which was sold to over 200,000 customers nationwide. Followed then by a televised edition on Network Ten, Big Al has had experience in all media genres. His radio show “Thursday Kaboom” on Fresh FM has attracted a large following over the last 5 years with over 85,000 tuning in to his show each week.
Big Al has also established himself as a well-loved comic at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, performing at the Fringe over the past three years. Making his debut in 2004, Big Al performed a two-man show with fellow comedian Scott John, titled “Scott and Big Al’s Big Night”. In 2006 - another two-man show titled “Give Us A Hug” and was also involved with “Best Of Adelaide” and “Going Ape At The Zoo”. It was then that the 2006 Melbourne Comedy Festival decided to take the show “Best Of Adelaide” with a handful of others to Melbourne for the first time. Big Al’s Fringe acts in 2007 included “The Best Of Adelaide”, “Going Ape At The Zoo” and hosting a new Fringe event called “Fresh Bait”.
With tours coming up later this year in both Melbourne and Sydney, Big Al is set to make his mark on the interstate comedy scene and leave audiences around the country wanting more of this loveable, energetic and quick-witted character.
