South Australia has a proud history of producing high-class entertainers, and Club Schmaltz is no exception.

Established five years ago when some of Adelaide’s leading musical talents saw the need for a fresh approach to “covers”, Club Schmaltz has become one of the state’s elite, first-choice bands.

At the heart of Club Schmaltz are five musicians who have honed their skills over many years at the top of the local music scene – lead by the incomparable lead singer and sax player Dave Zanchetta.

Dave is a showman and entertainer of rare ability. His musical CV lists a number of Adelaide’s highest profile bands, including
the Smartie Boys.

John Bywaters is on bass. Regarded as the grandfather of South Australian rock-n-roll, John played a key role in SA’s early rock history through his membership of the legendary Twilights – the band that launched the career of Glenn Shorrock.

On guitar is Ian Lehmann, who mixes his time playing lead riffs for Club Schmaltz with writing original compositions, teaching
young South Australians the finer arts of music, and building his impressive guitar collection.

Dave Hopgood is on drums, and is known throughout local musical circles as one of the best drummers going around. “Hoppie”
also has a long and impressive musical CV, and like Ian, is a dedicated music teacher.

The latest addition to Club Schmaltz is keyboard player Nat Pike. Nat has recently moved back to Adelaide after an extended stay
in Darwin, playing up to six nights a week at some of the Top End’s leading venues.

It’s easy to see why Club Schmaltz has rapidly become one of Adelaide’s favourite bands. Great music and great fun – delivered
